In recent years, the construction of the Internet of Things in my country has accelerated. As the core of the Internet of Things, sensors are ushering in the development trend. In 2015, the overall market size of my country's Internet of Things reached approximately 750 billion yuan, and is expected to reach 1.5 trillion yuan in 2020, and the sensor industry will directly benefit from it.
The sensor industry is characterized by investment-intensive and high technology content. Based on this feature, Western countries have more advantages in sensor industrialization. The world’s top ten sensor manufacturers, such as Honeywell, STMicroelectronics, and Bosch, are all from foreign. In recent years, China's sensor market has maintained sustained growth, with an increase of over 20%. The main application areas are four special equipments for industry and automobile, communication electronics, and consumer electronics. However, compared with foreign countries, there is a big gap in the design, packaging, equipment and other technologies of sensors in my country.
At present, the layout of my country's sensor industry is mainly concentrated in the Yangtze River Delta, and a regional spatial layout dominated by central cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing, Shenzhen, Shenyang and Xi'an has gradually formed. In addition, with the rise of the Internet of Things, the sensor industry has developed rapidly in other regions such as Shaanxi, Sichuan and Shandong.

At present, there are more than 1,700 companies engaged in the production and research and development of sensors in my country, of which more than 50 are engaged in the development and production of micro systems. It is predicted that China's sensor market will develop steadily and rapidly in the next five years. Driven by the substantial growth of the Internet of Things market, the size of China's sensor market will reach about 121.3 billion yuan in 2015 and is expected to reach 700 billion yuan in 2020.

In view of the lack of core technology and basic capabilities, my country's sensors are far behind foreign countries in high-end aspects such as high-precision, high-sensitivity analysis, component analysis, and special applications. For example, there is no set of sensor design software with independent intellectual property rights in China. The reliability of domestic sensors is one to two orders of magnitude lower than similar foreign products. Sensor packaging has not yet formed a series, standard and unified interface. The research and development and production of sensor process equipment are monopolized by foreign countries.

In the future, in addition to industrial automation, supporting large-scale key projects, and applications of automobiles and home appliances, applications in the fields of modern agriculture, environmental protection monitoring, medical health and food testing are also immeasurable.

For example, at present, domestic water resources control systems and home appliances are in the development stage from traditional technology to energy saving, emission reduction and technological upgrading. Inverter air conditioners and household vacuum cleaners, washing machines, solar water heaters, especially large central air conditioners have begun. The extensive use of pressure control, temperature adjustment and other systems has opened up a broad space for the application of various sensors in household air conditioners, washing machines, vacuum cleaners, and household water supply systems, and constitutes a new market demand and application growth point for my country.
