"What should I pay attention to when taking a bath in winter?"

"be careful!"

There is a kind of water heater called "bathroom bomb",

Every winter, someone is killed in the bath!

Girl taking a bath

She was unconscious when her family posted it

In the early morning of November 16, in a rented house in Longgang District, Shenzhen, there were bursts of crying suddenly...

The resident in the building, Mr. Lu, said that the girl living upstairs went into the bathroom to take a bath at 10 o’clock the night before, but did not come out. The family felt that something was not good. They opened the bathroom door and saw that she was already lying on the ground. personnel.

"The water heater was still working."

Afterwards, the family members called an ambulance, and first aid workers rescued the girl in the corridor for a long time.

"It's a pity that I still couldn't save it." Mr. Lu said, the girl was young, eighteen or nineteen years old, renting with her family in Xiashuijing Village.

That afternoon, the tenant group also popped up this regrettable news——

In the early morning of November 16, a gas poisoning incident occurred in the Xishuijing Community of Jihua Street, Longgang District. A young woman fell to the ground while taking a shower. Her family was unconscious when she found out, and died after rescue.

The cause of the accident was that the deceased was poisoned by gas from a direct-drain water heater in the rental house.

Such an accident makes people feel very sorry.

In winter

The "gas poisoning" alarm kept ringing

Looking back on recent years, there are still many such victims!

✎ 2019

From December 1-10, “Shenzhen 120” received 7 reports of carbon monoxide poisoning for 9 persons in 9 days——

At 21:51 on December 3, the father of a child in Guangming District reported to the police that his two children developed dizziness and fatigue after bathing. The two children, one is 5 years old and the other is 7 years old.

At 20:45 on December 4, a 32-year-old man in a community in Futian District said that after taking a bath with his girlfriend, both of them developed symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning and needed an ambulance.

✎ 2018

From November 1 to December 1, "Shenzhen 120" received a total of 21 carbon monoxide poisoning alarms. These cases were caused by gas poisoning while taking a bath indoors.

On January 9th and January 10th, "Shenzhen 120" received a total of 8 carbon monoxide poisoning alarms in two days. All of them fainted after taking a bath. Fortunately, they were all found and rescued in time.

✎ 2017

At around 3 am on October 28, "Shenzhen 120" received a police report from a citizen of Guanlan, Longhua, saying that someone was "gas poisoning." 120 quickly got out of the car, but when the emergency medical staff arrived at the scene, they found that a 22-year-old young man was unable to recover.

On the evening of December 8, a young couple in the rented room on the top floor of Wanxia Old Village, Nanshan District, took a bath at night and died of carbon monoxide poisoning. They were only discovered the next day.

This kind of water heater is called a "bathroom bomb"

Never use it!

Looking across the country, you can see "straight-discharge water heaters" in gas poisoning accidents in many places.
Why is "inline" so dangerous?
Look at the exhaust principles of different types of water heaters.

According to the exhaust gas emission method, there are currently three types of gas water heaters on the market: direct exhaust, forced exhaust, and balanced.

01. In-line water heater

The water heater itself has no suction and exhaust devices. Natural air intake, exhaust, oxygen extraction and exhaust are all indoors, which can easily cause oxygen deficiency in the bathroom and excessive exhaust gas concentration.

The country has long banned the production and sale of direct-discharge water heaters, and now most of what is bought on the market are second-hand refurbished products and small factories.

02. Forced exhaust water heater

Natural air intake, built-in exhaust fan to exhaust exhaust gas, relatively safe, but also because of the air in the bathroom, it may cause hypoxia.

The forced-exhaust water heater only forcibly discharges the exhaust gas produced by combustion out of the shower room, but the oxygen consumed by its combustion is directly taken from the room, so it will still lack oxygen after a long time.

03. Balanced water heater

It communicates with the outside world through a double-layer exhaust pipe, and there are two exhaust fans built in, one is responsible for sucking in the air for combustion from the outside, and the other is responsible for exhausting the exhaust gas to the outside, which is relatively safe.

Balanced water heater is the most ideal, it burns using outdoor air, does not consume indoor oxygen, and the exhaust gas generated is forced to be discharged outdoors.

Therefore, if your home is still using the "straight-discharge water heater", please replace it immediately!

How to prevent gas poisoning

These 5 points should be kept in mind

Carbon monoxide is colorless and tasteless. It only takes a few seconds for people to be poisoned. When they realize the poisoning, they have no physical strength to save themselves.

To avoid this terrible gas poisoning, it is best to do these 5 points——

① Do not use straight-discharge water heaters;

② Pay attention to ventilation when taking a bath, open exhaust fans or open windows;

③ Don't take a bath too long;

④ Before taking a bath at home, it is best to tell your family not to lock the bathroom door so that rescuers can enter smoothly after an accident;

⑤ When using gas or gas water heaters at home, it is best to install a carbon monoxide detector. Once the carbon monoxide is detected to be too high, the carbon monoxide detector will turn red and sound an alarm.

Here, I recommend a Japanese CO sensor TGS5042-A00, which has the advantages of resistance to high humidity, long life, and long-term stable performance. It is very suitable for home CO alarm applications.

Basic parameters of TGS5042-A00:

Range: 0-10000ppm

Life expectancy: 10 years

Response time: <60S

Output signal: linear current

Temperature range: 0℃-50℃

Humidity range: 5-99%RH (no condensation)

Advantages of TGS5042-A00:

Using electrochemical principle, output a very good linear current with CO concentration;

It has high sensitivity to CO and good selectivity to CO;

Small size, long life, zero power consumption, battery-powered;

UL certification has been obtained, meeting EN50291, UL2034 requirements

The TGS5042-A00 sensor is very suitable for household CO alarms, and is also widely used for lithium battery fire detection, generator fire detection, and underground parking lot CO monitoring.

Once someone around you gets gas poisoned

How to first aid?

① Close the gas valve and prohibit open flames.

Open doors and windows for ventilation, move the poisoned person to a well-ventilated place as soon as possible, loosen the collar and trousers of the poisoned person, keep in a lying position, keep breathing smooth and keep warm;

② Seek help from nearby people or dial 120 emergency number as soon as possible;

③ If there is vomit in the mouth, wipe it gently with a clean cloth wrapped in fingers to avoid entering the throat and causing suffocation;

④ If there is no response or breathing, perform CPR immediately.
