Pressure sensor for precise measurement of altitude

People usually think that the pressure sensor can only be used to measure the pressure of the gas, in fact, it can also use the corresponding relationship between air pressure and altitude to measure the current altitude. With the development of sensor design and manufacturing technology, pressure sensors that can monitor height are widely used in medical, automotive and consumer electronics applications. At present, pressure sensors are rarely seen on domestic GPS receivers, but foreign high-precision pressure sensors have been widely used in GPS, smart phones, multi-function watches, altimeters and other products.
 
Only need to add a high-precision air pressure sensor, humidity sensor, temperature sensor or GPS, the smart phone can become a portable weather station, can be made into a handheld or vehicle-mounted. It can measure temperature, air humidity, atmospheric pressure and altitude, and predict the changes in the weather in the next 12 hours through changes in atmospheric pressure.
However, the measurement accuracy of the pressure sensor will be affected by airflow and weather conditions. In order to obtain accurate and reliable measurement results, it is necessary to develop a calibration and filtering algorithm for the pressure sensor. In addition, most smartphones currently on the market have built-in GPS receivers and low-cost MEMS motion sensors, such as accelerometers, gyroscopes and/or magnetometers. Personal navigation or dead reckoning becomes very important for navigation in buildings without GPS satellite signals or in metropolitan cities with weak GPS signals. Since GPS receivers are not accurate enough to measure altitude indoors and outdoors, integrating a pressure sensor in a smartphone can help GPS measure altitude.
For the choice of pressure sensor, it is recommended to use MS5534C silicon piezoresistive pressure sensor-MS5534C, which uses advanced ADC analog-to-digital conversion IC to provide 16-bit pressure and temperature digital output. MS5534C has stronger anti-static ability (4kV). Used in handheld altitude/atmospheric pressure systems, weather control systems, adventure or multi-function watches, GPS, etc.
